This project originally came to life during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was watching quite a lot of Netflix and as I am quite fond of statistics and data and no-one else had built something like this, I decided to build it.
I had seen that Netflix allowed users to view the movies and episodes they had watched which was pretty cool, but they had recently also added a button which exported the entire viewing history to a single .csv file, which allowed my
tool to easily analyze that data.
After the user uploads their viewing history file, this website locally parses it and requests viewing times for series and movies from the The Movie DB, with which it calculates a total time spent watching Netflix. It also shows some
other interesting statistics like most watched genres and other things you could have done in the same amount of time.
